The AdAction celebrated its annual retreat in Playa del Carmen. Teams from both offices came together for days of fun, sharing, and bonding.
Team building is key for any group — increasing collaboration, positive communication, and the overall awareness and interest in who your coworkers are. The distance between AdAction’s offices in Austin, Texas, and Denver, Colorado, doesn’t slow us down, especially when we take our team building to the next level. From Orlando to Palm Springs and a return trip to Mexico, our annual staff retreat reaches new heights for collaborating and relationship building. This year, Austin and Denver came together in paradise for a legendary getaway to Playa del Carmen.
Group Activities and Time for R&R
There was little the retreat didn’t offer from group activities, water toys, pool volleyball, themed parties, and a private beach. A staff favorite was by far the Choose Your Own Activity day. Employees got to pick between a relaxing spa day, a deep-sea fishing excursion, and an exclusive 18 holes of golf right along the beach.
The team later convened for an Around the World party packed full of surprises, including a lucha libre match, ice luge and sculptures, and Oktoberfest. The retreat ended with a bang on our final night, which featured the all-company talent show. Employees performed solo or formed groups and rehearsed their unique talents and routines — shining a light on the individuality that makes up our company.

“The retreat showed not only how much AdAction values and appreciates us, but how much they invest in us as people,” said Mariah Chee, Media Coordinator. “There is nothing better than making genuine bonds with your work family. With this being my first year, I learned how important those relationships are in making a company thrive. This trip made me even more proud to work at AdAction.”
While the lavish events, one-of-a-kind activities, and custom gifts are a bonus, the retreat is all about celebrating our company’s wins. Those include individuals’ hard work and growth and forming and building upon relationships within the AdAction family. The retreat is an optimal time for our employees to meet new people, whether from their home base or office counterpart.
“This retreat was especially cool for me because it was my first time being one of the planners,” said Nikki Miles, Austin Office Manager. “Seeing everyone’s reactions to the houses and all the little details we planned was amazing, and I really enjoyed that. I’m so blessed to work at a company that I believe in with people who are both coworkers and friends!”
An Amazing Retreat in Paradise
We accomplished a lot in 2018, but the staff retreat to Mexico was definitely a highlight. Our team came together for four days to applaud our achievements, discuss where we hope to bring AdAction in the upcoming year, and make strong, lasting relationships.
