As 2019 comes to a close, the AdAction team is hustling to end the year strong. One thing that makes our culture unique is our ability to balance our “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” mentality with moments of celebration, and December has no shortage of festive fun. From supplying cold-weather gear and gifts to those in need to some friendly competition with ugly sweater contests and cookie bake-offs, we take full advantage of the holiday season to slow down and remember what’s really important. Let’s check out some of our team’s favorite holiday traditions.
Jason Spohn, Senior Business Development Manager
What is your favorite AdAction holiday tradition?
Our annual involvement with A Precious Child. Having two children of my own, I’m heartbroken to think about any child not having something to open during the holidays. So, to see all our employees spend their time and money to go shopping for these kids is an amazing experience!
What does that tradition say about AdAction’s culture?
A tradition like A Precious Child shows that we understand what’s important in life. While it’s great to have a successful business, it’s more important to be a good person and help those in need. I love that our entire office embraces that
Luke Chapman, Senior Client Service Coordinator
What is your favorite AdAction holiday tradition?
I would have to say our Secret Santa gift exchange and ugly sweater competition. It’s one of our more laid-back events and is all about showing love to your coworkers. I think that’s something that you can lose that in day to day interactions with each other, and Secret Santa brings us closer together before the holidays.
Do you have a favorite memory from that tradition?
My favorite memory is when I received Cirque du Soleil tickets because of my fascination with that type of entertainment at a previous staff event. One of my team members even told me never to lose that sense of wonderment. This tradition reminds me to look back and smile at those memories and to enjoy the new ones we make every holiday season.
Nikki Miles, Office Manager
What is your favorite AdAction holiday tradition?
Honestly, I love everything about the holidays except for cold weather, so it’s hard for me to choose a favorite. If I had to choose, I’d say our holiday party and dinner, including significant others. We have such an awesome team here in Austin. The dinner is our opportunity to meet some of the important people in their lives.
What does this tradition say about our culture?
It allows AdAction to show appreciation to the ones that celebrate our wins and comfort us when we fail. In many cases, they’re our motivation to succeed. AdAction would not be where it is without our great people, and we wouldn’t be where we are without our great friends and families!
Sarah Greenlee, Director of Strategic Accounts
What is your favorite AdAction Tradition?
Every year, the Denver team overtakes Colorado Mills Mall to shop for holiday gifts for children of various ages through our partnership with A Precious Child.
Do you have a favorite memory from this tradition?
A few of us went to Bath and Body Works, and in search of the perfect scent for some teenage girls, my coworker ended up spraying lotion down my shirt. Needless to say, that scent did not make the cut for gift baskets.
Livvie Sikora, Media Strategist
What is your favorite AdAction holiday tradition?
My favorite holiday tradition is our white elephant gift exchange. From brainstorming the perfect gift to the initial unwrapping, nothing brings out your true self, like fighting over a $25 gift. And it’s awesome to watch.
What is your favorite AdAction holiday memory?
My favorite memory would probably be the conversation that starts every year after Halloween. “Should we start listening to holiday music?” The question usually receives some groans, but everyone eventually gives in, making all the holiday lovers in the office, including myself, very happy.
